BIOGRAPHY
“So which one of you is James Blonde?”, we get this question all the time. The answer is quite simple: ALL THREE of us! Phil, Steph & Neil comprise the band that is known as James Blonde. Making their grand entrance onto the music scene in their hometown of Niagara Falls on NYE 2017 opening for Sam Roberts Band and Serena Ryder. Following their full length self-titled release in 2017, the lead single “Heartbreak” was picked up by major Spotify playlists and Starbucks, adding the song to its in-store radio across the globe. “FOMO”, the band’s first single of 2023, reached #29 on the Canadian Active Rock radio chart.
What do they actually sound like you may ask? Well the easiest way to find out is to go to any streaming service and listen for yourself! James Blonde is described by its following as a sound that resonates through generations. Their message gives light to the struggle, the celebration, the human condition, disenchantment and obsession, to a sometimes dark but always dance-worthy beat. Taking influence from bands such as Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Jack White & MGMT, James Blonde does a perfect job at taking its listeners on an emotional journey through the subtle weaving of confessional songwriting, High-octane rock guitar, electric pop groove and funky bass, as well as some old-fashioned soul with insanely precise musicianship.
What’s on the horizon for James Blonde? Over the last two years the band has released 5 new singles they recorded with Juno award winning producer Gus Van Go as fan service while writing another full length album. You heard that right, the band has another great full-length to look forward to! The even better news? They are just as impatient as you! The full album dubbed “Chameleon” (produced by Aaron Murray) will be available on September 6th, 2023 …But wait there’s more! The band gave fans a sneak preview of the album in the form of singles called “Back To Life”, which was featured across Canada on multiple Active Rock and Alternative stations, “FOMO” which reached the Top30 in the Canadian Active Rock radio chart - Top 10 at Stingray LOUD and “Say What You Want” , the band’s latest single released in June 2023.

“Every time I’ve seen James Blonde over the last few months they’ve been bigger and better. Even so, this performance at Warehouse felt like a quantum leap. Now working with a personal lighting rig and technician, their shows boast a level of production that feels light years above anything else in the area. It matches the huge, stadium-ready sound of the trio, filled with soaring guitar work, infectious grooves, slick baselines and great interplay between loud and quiet moments. James Blonde played three new songs, each of which blew the roof off of Warehouse and felt right at home amongst the classics with which they have made their name." - Cameron Tyson, The Brock Press
"The group released its debut album this week, and this track is the lead single that deserves to unlock doors at radio with its frisky, upbeat sound featuring honeyed vocal harmonies and a production that sounds as if they have golden ears. " - Kerry Doole, FYI Music News

"The day has fallen and it is the turn of the trio James Blonde to take the road aboard a black Telecaster with tinted windows. Head to the diner on the corner, to dance to electrifying rock-pop. They land on the track dressed in black with the assurance of a Travolta. Steph's bouncy demeanor, Phil's smile and Neil's hair instantly enchant the audience." (translated from French) - Maxime Plantady, Feu À Volonté

"Niagara Falls-based band, James Blonde are back with a video for their single, “Heartbreak” just in time for Valentines Day. The track was written and produced by the band, and the video explores the pitfalls of love and relationships as a teenager. The song has an upbeat, funky chorus which had me singing along immediately, and the video is almost like an episode of Degrassi or some other teen television drama." - Jenna Melanson, Canadian Beats

"While James Blonde are stoked to have the new album out, all three members admit it’s a means to an end: playing live. Performance is James Blonde’s calling card, as electrified crowds who have caught the band at marquee festivals like Osheaga, Edgefest, CMW, and Sound of Music — or opening for Weezer, Sam Roberts Band, Serena Ryder, the Arkells, and Lights — can attest." - David Farrell, FYI Music News

"There are so many alternative/indie rock bands out there, and all are trying to (...) be a little bit different from the others. When we think of this, we can have a better understanding of where James Blonde stands with their overture. (...) I think their progressive instrumental partitions have made a big difference, especially in “Not This Time”. Every time I listen to the song, I unconsciously want to hear more of those delicious progressive guitar riffs. (...) it is very obvious that they feel their music. They know what they are doing, and their product is the proof of their good potentials." - Burak Gundogdu, Heavy Metal T Shirts
